The axle to mustang gt is bent? what all needs to be replaced?

I hvae a 2001 v8 mustang GT and I hit a curb and my back right rim was cracked and the tire also messed up. Later, I realized my car "per say squeaked" as I tried to drive it after hitting the curb. I was told that was because I bent my axle. Do I need to replace the entire rearend axle or just the axle shaft???? Any and all help is appreciated!!!! Thanks =)
