...Failed prophecy? Isaiah 52:1 "Awake, awake, O Zion, clothe yourself with strength. Put on your garments of splendor, O Jerusalem, the holy city. The uncircumcised and defiled will not enter you again."
Failed prophesy! Good for you for pointing it out! Gold SupaStar for you!
I will assume now, that, as theists say if there is ONE THING wrong with evolution, the entire science needs to be tossed out, that now that there is a DEMONSTRATED ERROR in the Bible, it ALL must be thrown out as well, otherwise, that would make them hypocrites.
EDIT: What's wrong, Christians? Got nothing to add?
Not a "it's out of context" or "it's a mistranslation" or "it's just a metaphor"?
That prophecy is yet to be fulfilled. "Put on your beautiful garments" refers to the redemption of Jerusalem by Jesus. Currently, Jerusalem is still under the bonds versus free as Christians, God's children.
Isa 52:1-2
Awake, awake!
Put on your strength, O Zion;
Put on your beautiful garments,
O Jerusalem, the holy city!
For the uncircumcised and the unclean
Shall no longer come to you.
Shake yourself from the dust, arise;
Sit down, O Jerusalem!
Loose yourself from the bonds of your neck,
O captive daughter of Zion!
In my view it will happen when Zion is rebuilt with a new name in America. Jerusalem will likewise be rebuilt. What it means is criminals will not be included to Jeruslalem cause we will know God and his rules. Thus Jerusalem will know what is good and will judge its own folk without police agents lawyers and judges. Each inhabitant will have a choice between not living in America or living with God in America.
Women cannot be literally circumcheese so basically that does not indicate what was told about Abraham. I understand it to indicate a criminal status not a penis status.
If we can identify king David in his tomb we can then insist on Israel having thrived in America before Nebuchadnezzar Junior brought it to the Arabs. Jerusalem will then be open to all nations not only Israel and not specifically Jacob's family line.
This, like many prophecies in Isaiah, is the spirit of the lord speaking through the prophets regarding the church which would come into being after Jesus was crucified and the holy spirit came on his people.
In the new testament the church is Jerusalem where God's people and the spirit of God dwell. The defiled and uncircumcised count as those who have not received forgiveness in the name of Jesus and who have not been made clean by his blood.
Baptism is also part of this and is seen as the 'flesh' (the natural life) being cut away and your life then being 'hidden' with Christ.
