It's about a girl and her family. A Creutur(sp) crashes into the moon, bringing it much closer to the earth, which causes everything to mess up. I remember a line clearly from the book 'The Statue of Liberty is gone, the entire east coast is gone.'
The girl has to live through it with her mom and two brothers, and they get sick and since everyone has literally died off from no food, etc, she cares for them herself.
