A driver who went left of center and hit another car last month in Swansboro has been charged with careless and reckless driving and driving left of center, authorities said Tuesday.
Frederick Hart, 22, of Hubert was traveling on Swansboro Loop Road on Aug. 31 when he drove his 2005 Ford SUV left of center and collided head-on with a 2004 Ford pickup driven by Sandy Riggs Phillips, 45, of Swansboro, according to the N.C. Highway Patrol.
Hart and Phillips were transported to Pitt County Memorial Hospital. Hart has been treated and released and Phillips remains in fair condition, hospital officials said Tuesday.
Troopers said alcohol was not a factor.
