well done terry!!!!!!!! great save!

crouch should of scored!!! couldnt ask for a better ball from beckham.
0-0 half time so far!

common england!

Crouch is a waste. The commentator here said that he looked like a stork that was stuck in the mud. You're telling me there is nobody better than Crouch? How about Phillips, or Dyer, or Jenas?? I'd rather have extra midfielders and move people up then to have this male version of Olive Oil be at the front. Hopefully Rooney can pull it out for them.

second goal was amazing left footer from gerrard!

He still doesn't belong. As big as he is he should get EVERY header that comes anywhere near him. They need a finisher up front, not a third post for the goal.

my friend says crouch reminds him of bambi crossed with a giraffe.

the best thing about this match was lennon. he was really really good and should get a chance at a full game against sweden. the whole og englands game changed when he came on.

I completly agree. I don't rate Crouch at all. He's just not right. I think he's overated and would definatly rather have Defoe or Bent.

Lennon man of the match anyone? Well I am a bit biased

I would start both Lennon and Rooney for the next game.

Rooney should not play 90mins, take him off after 45 or 60 ish, and bring on....yes....Walcott. He MUST be tested in that game. It is as much of a "nothing" game as you can get at the world cup, England need to know what they have available.

I agree with having Rooney only play part of the game. I'd rather he be a super sup for now until he is feeling better (I'm biased as I need him for next season for ManUtd to have any hope of beating Chelsea and don't want him hurt too quickly again).

Walcott... I don't know much about the "minor leagues" or whatever you guys have on your side of the pond but maybe you can clear something up for me. This kid doesn't have ONE SINGLE MINUTE of premiership time, but he can be on the national team?!? I'm confused about that one. Rooney came on when he was young but he was a STARTER for Everton. Just doesn't make sense to me.

Just got home so now I gotta watch the recording of the game and catch the 2nd half. Lets see this goal that the tall stork did. Gerrard = Class!!

Another pathetic England performance. But just for once, Sven got the substitutions right, and Lennon and Rooney injected the urgency, pace and shape that we were lacking.

I'm getting a bad feeling about the Sweden game.

It's not 'moaning', it's simply an observation that we are playing like muppets. The worry is that if we don't improve dramatically and fast, then we will crash out in the early knockout rounds.

I agree with you yes, I think Sweden will be a big test. For the players, for the team and for Sven, especially the latter.

Not based on any of his performances for England he isn't!

He scored an excellent goal last night - but right at the end of the game against tiring opposition. Shame he didn't do it earlier. In fact, it's a shame that he didn't do anything at all earlier.

I'm not singling him out for particular blame, mind. The whole midfield was poor.

Yep. They will be the first team that actually try to attack us instead of sitting back and putting 11 players behind the ball. I still think our performances have been terrible and if we want and chance in the knockout stages there has to be some serious improvement. I'd play Carrick as a holding midliefder to allow Gerrard to get forward more and try to recreate some of his form for Liverpool.

I really think Lennon is one of our most exciting players (a bit biased I know) and should probably start the Sweeden match. Was Beckham playing as right back at the end yesterday?

I don't rate Carrick, but I agree that we look better when we play a holding man. Lampard + Gerrard = shambles.

We ended up playing 2-4-4, with Lennon on the right side of the attack and Beckham in right midfield.

I'm wondering how long we can keep picking Beckham just for his dead-balls and crosses. The captain should be setting the tempo for the team, and Beckham is happy to just flit around at walking pace.

I'm not convinced that Lennon is ready to start though. His pace and dribbling is just what we need (and it's great to have a bit of width for a change) but his crossing has looked awful for England, and he is still very inexperienced really. You watch him regularly for Spurs (I assume) - can he cross?

I'd make the same observations about Downing on the other side, by the way.
