Because, quite frankly you dont have enough bad stuff to use as a comparison. None of us do. Take some like my father who grew up in the most dismal surroundings. That man would grin like he stole something everytime he poured himself a big bowl of cornflakes, or had a nice meal...

On the other hand most of us have it so good we can't see the forest for the trees, so to speak...

I swear the morale of the country has nose-dived recently. I have been feeling down for a couple of weeks now although i have absolutely no idea, nor reason for it either. My mom and sister have said the same to me this week in seperate conversations and just about everyone I have met just recently is looking a little burnt out. I blame the (insert cliche quasi-rational reason) for it all.

what makes me go GRRRR

when you say something bad that happened to you (I was abused/bullied when i was younger) people who say "well, children are starving in Africa." So just cause some people have their rights even more violated than mine, does that mean mine weren't?

I swear, makes me wanna give those people a uraken.

It makes me want to punch them in the kidney, then say 'Hey, you shouldn't complain about that. There are kids starving in Africa'.

And I'm getting closer to actually punching them with age.

The more I see of humans, the more angry I get...

I am the friendliest anti-social dude you'll ever meet. DAILY my expectation level for people gets lowered, lol...

As far as those people with the starving kid in africa spiel.. look at them very calmly and say "I'm sorry, does it say UN Relief fund on my forehead again? I hate when that happens. Now focus dear, this is about ME, sweetie - right here, *clap-clap* Look here, sweetie *insert universal two-finger-to-eyes gesture*... we'll say it together... MMMMEEEeeeeee. Ok? Can we focus? Li'l bit? Ok, great, now, where was I?"

I hate that stuff. I'm confiding in you ya monkeyhump, we'll talk world news later when its your turn...

You're right. Happiness is a decision, sadness comes EASILY. Focus on the simple, easy things... the things you really enjoy but maybe don't get to do very often. Planning for something like that can often give you something positive to look forward to and that alone can often change your mood for the better.

I wouldn't say happiness is a decision for a non depressed person. As misanthropic and ragey as I am, I am naturally happy most of the time.

lol, thats what I get for quick posts, lol..

I misspoke... or well... mistyped? Happiness isnt a decision, no. At least for ME, positivitity is a consious decision I have to make. I could EASILY spiral into the negativity that surrounds me daily and dwell on it... ultimately becoming consumed by it.

I combat that with focusing on things I enjoy even though they may be silly or insignificant. I find humor in most things even if I have to actively search for it. By remaining positive, I in effect "choose" to be happy... or rather as happy as I can be. Does that make a little more sense?
