i like preteens but grrrrr when they follow you around everywhere you go like my 9 year old cousin does with me and they are just stuck to your butt like a hemorrhoid and you cant shake em off

Divers of SUV's that don't drive on the road, instead they take up the bicycle lane.

I ride a motorcycle and I see this all the time, and I'm thinking "How hard is it to drive in your lane? Gee, I wonder what would happen if there was a cyclist around the corner?"

I had the same thing happen to me from Play.Com. Ordered a limited edition blu-ray, didn't come, they have a "wait 21 days" before contacting us policy. I did so, they sent an email back saying they'll refund me as it has sold out...

This blu-ray is also going for upwards of £60+ on ebay...

Now, I understand things getting lost in the post, but I've had it happen many times and a lot of time it's with limited edtions...

I did that with nunchucks in my room. Smashed the light bulb, was plunged into darkness and had to shuffle to the door, with a floor full of broken glass, in bare feet...

Painful, but now I know exact how John McClane felt in 'Die Hard'.

I'll try.

You are young and keen, and I bet you don't miss to many lessons.
This is half the battle, just turn up each week and listen to your instructor (ask questions though).

Weeks turn into months, months into years and so on. Before you know it you will be the intermediate level student in your classes and offering advice to the beginners.

In six months you will be getting that cross strangle on with relative ease and making that guy tap out.

You will then be worrying about the next move that makes you struggle. Martial Arts, like much in life requires constant work and we spend a lot of time thinking "I can't do this". Once in a while another student will heap praise on you for a certain move and it will all seem like the effort was worth it.

As Bruce Lee said "walk on".

As for not missing, sadly this thing is only a short course for 4 weeks, they were talking about starting a regular class over here but I don't know if they actually will.

I guess I'm just low because I got smacked in the face with the reality that I'm a small, defenceless uterus sack. Actually smack in the face isn't a hard enough metaphor. More like acid injected directly into my eyes.

Well, defenceless is kinda going too far. I can submit people 3 stone heavier than me...but that's me...ignore the good stuff and feel like crap about the bad. Lol.

What are the positives from the day? You got hit in the face. So what do you need to do to stop it happening again, higher guard, more movement or footwork? So that hit taught you something right?

My Filipino instructor will say to us "that is batik" (you probably do not need me to tell you what that means). Now in this country we drop our heads and think "why do I bother", but in the Phillipines that would be a spur to train harder and impress the instructor.



That is all well and good, but can you stop a person the same weight with more skill?

Worry less about the weight and size of you opponent. It seems to me that your biggest opponent is you.

I don't mean I LITERALLY got hit in the face, lol. (I did get choked though). I was just using that expression 'smacked with a little reality'.

What I didn't do? I think I should have used more speed and explosiveness, but I was tired, which was entirely my freaking fault as I never do endurance training (hate it). Note to self...actually do some running for flip's sake...you are using your entire body to try and immobilize someone, which takes it out of you.

If you've never grappled before you're going to gas period. I've seen guys come from bodybuilding backgrounds, Muay Thai, offtopic and they all gas pretty quick because grappling owns your body in a completely different way so thats nothing to be pissed about.

BTW I'd be pretty chuffed about beating heavier people I can only just about avoid being tapped more thna twice by the heavier guys and Ive been training for nearly a year. Smile!!

I should indeed smile, but I feel like every freaking molecule in the world is laughing in my face saying 'You lost, of course you did, you're a little 52kg woman, a 13 year old boy could own you...'

Ok, off to do a few pullups...gonna try doing them with 10kg of discs attached to me...lol. Will share the hilarity in the workout thread.

Being 80kg doesn't make your arteries any harder to close off and get choked out. I'd be lying if I told you size count for nothing in bjj but you've had what? 2/3 weeks worth of sessions? The fact you're tapping anyone is pretty impressive in and of itself but being outweighed by a couple of stone and doing it is just cool

The other plus side for the future is people who are naturally heavier or stronger end up relying on it and they get a slap in the face when the lighter people learn some good technique and start sweeping and tapping them on the same level.


Case in point: I weigh 8-10kg more than you and can barely do a bodyweight pullup
