Things that make you go GRRRRR.... (Part 2)

Well if you're going to spend your life comparing yourself with men who are that much bigger and stronger than you, you might as well give up now. You need to accept who you are and where you fit in. If you set ridiculous goals then you will never achieve them, you'll set yourself up for being an almighty failure and spend your life with the extreme levels of anger and tension that you exhibit at the moment. Compare yourself with where you were last year or pick a sports woman who is the same height and build as you. When I'm looking at my lifting achievements I look at the goals for the women of around 110-120lbs, not the 200lb men!

No what I was getting at is everyone there is heavier than me, so being strong *for my size* isn't much good in isolation.

Also not all of them are prohibitively stronger than me. I can consistently submit my friend who's my own height but 25kg heavier

I'm not really sure what appropriate goals are for a 50kg woman, where should I look?

I can't walk.

Whose deranged idea was it to do 20 pistol squats, again?

Well then you need to work at technique and stop trying to muscle your way out of everything, because if you try to rely on strength then you'll always gas out quickly and won't learn the subtle moves you'll need in the long run.

Yeah I suspect I'll get better at that once I've gotten used to rolling. I just revert to instinct at the moment the minute adrenaline hits.

That's assuming they start a regular class over here, I'll cry if they don't...

btw thanks for the link

You're welcome!

For grappling you just need to get out of the mindset that strength is the most important thing. It does make a difference, but ability to understand your opponent's balance points and how to use them to your advantage is also important, as is patience! Sometimes you're better to hold on and let your opponent exhaust himself or hold on and wait for a better position to overbalance them or submit them, than to try to be actively doing anything. There's been a number of times I've managed to sweep fairly big guys just by waiting for the right moment and when it happens you feel great, because you know that you're technique is improving. That's one of the good things about being light, you really have to learn the technique because you can't really on overpowering an opponent.

If they don't run regular classes, look for weekend seminars you can attend. I went to a fantastic luta livre seminar last year and learnt a lot in a couple of hours.

False alarm it seems.

One of my kids plugged a USB into my wife's PC and gave it a virus. Norton has cleared it up, but somewhere the firewall has blocked internet access for her.

I am going to hit him.

No I am sure it wasn't. Trouble is the kids have laptops at school and I know they all load this, that and the other between memory sticks. I have asked them not to put these into the machines at home in an attempt to prevent viruses.

Probably a simple fix once I can sit down in the quiet and go through things.

Shoulder's on its way out again and just generally pissed. The bright side is I can't afford to do the comp next month anyway so at least my shoulder won't stop me competing

You can say that again. Days work in st helens then after work drive to Devon to work 12 - 14 hour days inside a almost finished superstore fitting a security system then sleep & repeat until Friday. Then Devon is great, it's in my rearview

Being weak and tired and not being able to fall asleep for hours.

Yeah, I know. Terrible combination.
