So we had to do multiple attacker sparring in kung fu class last night...
I went with one of the heavyweight guys who, respect to him, agreed to go easy and not use head shots because he's literally twice my weight, and my female friend. Just a light session to get used to using your footwork, right? My autonomic nervous system disagreed. I swear the feel in my bloodstream from the adrenaline was like molten metal pouring out. My vision flooded with these little neon lights. And I was trying to move out of his range and she was punching me in the face and I suck with my fists so I just got overwhelmed...I went on autopilot, caught hold of her, pulled guard, and was going for a triangle choke using her as a human shield before my instructor pulled us apart..
So embarrassed. It was a sparring session, not a fight to the death. I feel like I crapped my pants in public. I'm just glad I didn't hurt her with the guard pull/submission attempt. She said she didn't hurt anything because she landed on me rather than the ground, so that's ok, but she could have done if she'd gone down awkwardly. A 55kg-ish woman wrapped around you in free fall isn't exactly fun.
Note to self...don't do multiple attacker sparring again until you're better at dealing with adrenaline dumps...
