Going to have to take a few weeks off 'normal' (for me) my back is pretty done in from the yoke walk at my meet on sat, apparently 50m with 200kg on your back isn't good for a spine.
No squats, Deadlift, power cleans, heavy OHP, benching with an arch etc for a week or two.
Trying to figure out what I can do, thinking of getting in for some BB style benching, lat raises, shrugs and chest supported rows tomorrow.
As someone who has suffered with a bad back for a couple of years I say take the rest. That idea may totally suck, especially as you have made some good gains recently, however a little rest now giving your body time to recover is the sensible thing to do.
One or two weeks out is not a lot, trust me. When I was in my late teens and through my twenties I used to think a lost training session was the end of the world, now I realise how much time I actually had.
Yeah, it's more serious DOMS than an injury per say but it is defiantly tweaked.
The problem is I may have put my name down for another comp on october 1st......
I was thinking about just playing with gymnast rings for a couple of weeks, no twisting, shearing or loading. It doesn't hurt anymore but I stumbled today and I could feel it, going to give it a few more days of doing nothing then get down to my nearest gymnastics place and have a play.
you're gonna kill me for this, but you only say that to say you're huge
*tries to hide by passing as simon's wig*
but yeah, back injuries/massive fatigue = rest the crap out of it so you don't blow a disk. i don't think i need to go on about the back being important
The thing is we are all terrible at listening to our own advice.
Two of us get together on a Saturday morning for some extra Tai Chi practice. The things I pick her up on I miss myself, and likewise the things she tells me off for I catch her doing later.
I think often we know the answer, we just need MAP to hammer home some common sense.
I don't like grrr, because I try to always remain positive (god knows how), but I was working on speed and relaxation in class today and one of my students moved in to trap my lead hand. I whipped it away and went to give him a thick ear (open handed), which he blocked with his elbow.
I now have a hurty tingly hand.
