Things that make you go GRRRRR.... (Part 2)

Waiting on a parcel delivery. I specified that if I wasn't in they should leave it on the doorstep. The online tracking service says 'not delivered, problem of access'. There is no freaking problem of access, there is no gate, just a long driveway. I bet the stupid courier either went to the wrong house or couldn't be bothered walking down the drive (or even driving down the drive). GRRRRRR!!!!!!!

Big PC is as fixed as much as I can fix it for now. It works, but the graphics are crippled. Need a new graphics card. Also had to replace 4 Balistix memory sticks. ...

THIS MAKES ME CRAZY!!!

We have a big dog. We once had a package not delivered because the dude making the drop was afraid our dog would somehow attack him THROUGH the closed front door. Not sure how that was gonna work but I had to go pick the pack up eventually or they were going to send it back. I asked about that when I went to get it. They said the delivery truck driver was afraid for his safety. I said "how about you get delivery drivers that understand dogs dont have the ability to magically travel through solid matter? It's a dog, he's not gonna tunnel out or chuck norris the front door into shards."

The people behind the counter blinked and one said "the safety of our delivery drivers is our number one concern."

I said. "Maybe it should be delivering packages?" and left.

What annoys me is that I've had deliveries from this company before and they've all arrived fine. So it's either a lazy driver or a new one who can't read the house numbers (or just couldn't be bothered). I pretty sure they must have gone to the wrong place, because there's no card or anything been left.

We have had problems with one firm who's lazy, overweight driver just dumps parcels at the top of the drive and then claims the hill is too steep for her van. We get an oil tanker down our drive (we have oil central heating), we had the house mover van down when we moved in, I've had my car, laden with uni stuff up and down with no problems.

If it is your job to deliver parcels, then you should do it to the house you're paid to deliver it too!

I know a friend of a friend that caught a delivery guy about to deliver a "tried to deliver a parcel but you weren't in" notes without even having brought the parcel out of the van.
He just had the note.

They do that sometimes. I have 'missed' a delivery while both the dog and I were 4m from the front door. I might have failed to hear a knock, the dog certainly wouldn't have.

i've had non-deliveries of the 'failed to deliver' note itself ¬_¬.

and when i went to the mail to pick it up, they didn't recognize the tracking numbers, so now i need to confirm them and go pick the package up again on monday, hoping they haven't sent it back.

People who think "Ju Jitsu" is automatically referring to "BJJ"

They dont seem to realise that Traditional / Japanese even exists, yet it's been around for nearly 2000 years? And the Brazilian variant, less than a century?

"I study ju jitsu" - "Oh, is that like wrestling on the ground?"

"I study ju jitsu" - "Like in the UFC?"

Grinds my gears. Also dislike all the fancy Gis worn by the BJJers with branding and advertisement etc all over them.

You might ask your doctor about hydrogen peroxide baths for your ear. If you have swimmer's ear (fluid trapped in the inner ear that causes an infection), you can tilt your head sideways and gently massage a thimble full in your ear chalice. Doing this for 30 secs and then tilting your head to the opposite side can draw out the water/puss from the ear canal and help relieve pressure, kill the bacteria much more quickly, and quicken the general recovery.

I have to be very careful about what I put in my ear as I have a t-tube (big gromit) in place that basically keeps a hole through my ear drum open.
Anything that goes in ends up going RIGHT in and down my throat.
Lovely.
Finally the ear drops and ultra-antibiotics are having an effect.
I think the anti-inflams in the drops are bringing everything back to normal size and so it feels shed loads better.
Bled quit a bit though because the inflamation split my ear drum. Not nice having blood come out of your ear canal.

Not really. It's all linked mate. That's why they send you to the ENT people (ear, nose and throat). It's a system.
I have a non-functioning eustachian tube. That's the tube that equalises the ear pressure around your ear drum and runs from your nasal cavity to your inner ear.
When your ears "pop" it's the eustachian tube opening and your ear drum "popping" back into place when the pressure is uneven.

You have no idea how many schools I've called who's sites advertise "Ju Jitsu" only to find out its Brazillian and not Japanese. I had a conversation somewhat similar to the one you mentioned.

"Your website says you teach Ju Jitsu"

"Yes. we do."

"Great! The Original Japanese version?"

"Well, we teach the original version but its not from Japan."

"Umm, I don't understand. Ju Jitsu as it exists today had its start in Japan."

"No, no, my friend. Ju Jitsu has certainly made its way there but it started in Brazil with the Gra..."
