Follow-up to my last Grrrrrr - grrrrrrr shoe sizes. Old boots are size 13, order some new boots, size 13 is like an 8 and have no chance of fitting. Thankfully Brantano still sell my old boots and they haven't changed their sizes again so I managed to get some ready for work but not happy with these new style (army patrol) boots

Is anyone here a painter/decorator? I just wonder what the going rate is since I think I've made a hash of roller painting my toilet room, an impossibly small awkward space with odd angles. I'm hoping it can be rectified tomorrow with a second coat using a big roller on the main surfaces but prepared for the worsed. Looks a bit like that Rothko's painting in the Tate, Red on Maroon. Maybe I can charge people for a personal viewing

Anthropomorphisation of organisms in dumbed down natural history programs on the TV! I am sick of being told a parasite or a shark or other organism is 'devious', 'devilish', 'sneaky' or something equally stupid, when referring to behaviour honed by millions of years of evolution. The parasite is not sitting at its computer with its large, white, fluffy cat on its knee, planning on taking over the world. It is acting in a way it has been programmed to do by evolution, not conscious thought the way humans do.
