about the nutrition part? im a full time college student and im really wanting to try the p90x...unfortunately i live on campus and my campus doesn't necessarily have the food i need(it does have healthy food just not a big variety) that is from the program and i dont have enough money to get the food from the supermarket. I was working out but then i stopped because i hated walking all the way to the gym in the cold morning and all i do is pretty much boring stuff..i need exciting workouts..and i was thinking working out in my room would be the better option for me plus i can look stupid lol...anyways, i am 5'5 and 157 and i need to loose weight..i just wanna look and feel healthy and not weak...i need a lot of motivation 2..ive heard good things about this program...so if anyone has suggestions or tips please help!! thanks!

Your in a pretty tough situation there. I'd recommend going with the same foods nutrition wise as the guide but not the same exact foods if you get what I'm saying.

If not, I mean like let's say for example they want you to eat an egg...think....eggs about 6g protein from an animal and some fat in it. Well the closest thing to it I can think of is some ham, which you can find with very similar nutrition facts (except not as much cholesterol as the egg).

Diet is by far the most important factor in losing weight. You can exercise all you want, but if your still consuming more calories per day than your burning off, then you won't see any results. P90X is certainly a great exercise program, as are many others. The trick is too stick with one and to make sure you're eating right as well. Though your campus cafeteria might not have all the foods recommended by p90, Im sure there are plenty of substitutes. Here's a good list of what types of foods you should be eating.

More importantly, make sure your consuming LESS overall calories than your burning off. Here's a good calorie calculator for exactly how much you need given your age and size.

Brittany,

I have completed P90X a few times and think it's a great all around fitness program.

It does work if you follow the program. Two crucial parts are to:
1) stay consistent - Excercise 5-6 days a week
2) maintain a healthy diet

A big reason P90X works is because it is so well structured. You simply pop in the DVDs on the days they tell you and follow an easy to follow nutrition guide (either gives you guidelines, or exact recipes/meals). Plus Beachbody has a very good support community (I found this really helpful when going through the program, for the first time). Basically the program takes out all the guess work and guides you step by step.

As far as how to eat, there is a version of the nutrition guide that tells you how much of certain types of foods (protein, carbs, fruit, dairy, vegetable, fats, etc..) you should eat and then you have the flexibility to make up your own meals accordingly. There may not be a lot of variety, but if the campus has healthy options it'll fit the bill.

If you do plan on ordering P90X, FYI by shopping through the Beachbody's, Team Beachbody web site (same company, same return policy, etc...) you will pay less shipping and your order will come with two additional bonus DVD workouts which you can not get if you order through the advertised 800# and website.

I have helped coach many people through P90X and am actually helping a few current students go through the program. If you have any questions I'd be happy to help you out. Feel free to contact me through my blog or Yahoo profile.

Hope this helps.
