This accessory is not supported with iPad... (Composite Av Cable)?

I got a composite av video cable from apple, which will work on my iPad for about 12 seconds, Then a box pops up saying that "this accessory is not supported with iPad". If i try to continue anyway, it will not work I have the first generation iPad, running iOS 4.3. Any help is appreciated.
