Tip of the day: 7 easy ways to manage stress at work
[SIZE=-1]If you find yourself steaming at work, don't vent. Research shows that you're liable to feel even angrier after you send that angry e-mail message. Instead, step back and look at the problem carefully. If it seems fixable, create a plan of action. If not, try one of these steps:
  • Breathe deeply. Take slow, steady breaths. Notice any tension in your body. *Breathe into the tension, and release as you exhale.
  • Tense and then relax each muscle.
  • Sing or hum a soothing tune.
  • Close your office door and listen to a 10-minute relaxation tape.
  • Stretch.
  • Visualize a pleasant, peaceful scene.
  • Turn off your cell phone and ignore your e-mail.
