Do you tend to

1. expect something in return when you help someone
2. readily help people while asking nothing in return

What is wrong w/ answering #1? It just doesn't sit well with me that some of my friends are like this. What is the best way to look at it w/o letting it get to me?

Me personally think its all about the way you were brought up, like my neighbor when we were growing up the way his mom got him to do things was to basically trade off she'd give he this or that and in return he'd do his chores or whatever.

I think 1 and 2 are both equally true in my case.... I DO expect something in return, BUT I dont ask... its a question of expecting without asking.... so yes, 1 AND 2

its called reciprocal altruism and its a necessary part of our evolutionary strategy.

You could tend to expect a thank you, but you most likely will not get a sincere one, even if you get one at all.
