Tottenham Riots

I started in the UK and emigrated having passed the Canadian selection process. It was not a transfer

When I left the UK I was a detective in GMP (having also doen 4 years in Kent) and i started as a stinky Constable again when I landed

It is much nicer out here!

the video specifically or the riots ? the video was removed so I didn't see it, I am saying and have been saying the tensions building up and leading to this are very likely to be the same as similar riots we have seen in the past as the straw that broke the camels back was the same (an allegedly racial incident involving the police that resulted in the death of a minority) and there for there is far more to this than simply a bunch of criminals deciding to loot a shop, I have not once said looting, the attacking of local businesses or even the attacking of police officers was justifiable.

Agreed very good interview. Nice to hear from someone from the police

I think someone has been shot in the face in leeds, dont quote me on that though.

We are actually in a kind of accord, although approaching it from different angles

The problem is the looters themselves - they are not interested in any cause other than there own selfish wants and an excuse to be criminals. As i said, if the police of legal buildings (city hall etc) were targetted I could understand it more...but Tescos???

Those are the "scum" - and rioting iin the UK is a scum tactic not a protetst tactic because they never, NEVER localise or narrow their targets - they just wreck everything.

This is why the underlying issues are never addressed - the rioters go beyond the cause and divert attention so is it any wonder nothing gets addressed

Just had an egg pelted at lounge window. Was too slow to react, unfortunately.

Could have been worse, I suppose, could have been a brick.

Sounds familiar now you mention it. I'm waiting for someone to get trapped in a burning building

Easy to say sat here, but stay inside and deal with it in the morning. Hopefully it is just kids.

Could be unrelated prank. Not amused, mainly cos I got overzealous with a saucepan of water whilst cleaning it off. Splash-back is a bitch.

well then I think the only thing we are really disagreeing on is that there is a tiny part of me that can understand why someone living in pretty crap conditions day to day, with no prospects for the future not having what your saying cross there mind or if it does even really caring, that's not condoning but I suppose you could accuse me of trying to understand. although I will say as the night (and the area of the riots) progresses it is getting harder and harder to maintain this view.

touch wood, that reminds me of the bank workers who were killed in the anti austerity riots in Greece, I pretty much agreed with the protesters that day, probably would have been amongst them if I lived in Greece but that made me sick to the pit of my stomach.

I'm good mate , i'm hearing asda living at bentley mill , but it's not the only shop up there with high value items.

Military intervention has been played down in interviews so far but if the cabinet decide to force an end tomorrow it may very well happen. Interviews were pretty clear the police aren't equipped for something this big.
