Traveling to Nassau Bahamas on a Carnival Cruise, what should I plan to do?

I would like to know If there is any must do activities and also if there is a beach you can go to without having to pay to sit on a beach for a couple of hours. Also what is the shopping like in Nassau? What can I expect?? Thanks so much!!!
