When I was in seventh grade, I noticed I had trouble catching my breath after running in soccer. I didn't think much of it because I'm very athletic, and can run very fast. Over the years it has gotten much worse. I've tried conditioning, not a lot, but have seen no improvement whatsoever, it just gets worse every season. I'm in twelfth grade now, and when I play soccer, I can only play for about five minutes which is a few sprints up and down the field, and then have to sit out for ten minutes to catch my breath.

I've been to the doctor many times about this, who thought I may have exercise-induced asthma. I got an inhaler which helps but not enough.

Earlier this year, I went to an asthma specialist, but he didn't find anything wrong with my lung function. But he made me run around the parking lot a few times to make sure, and noticed that after resting my heart rate was taking a very long time to go down. Longer than it should be even if I sat around all day doing nothing.
So I saw a cardiologist who did a stress test, but they found nothing wrong with my heart.

So my question is, do you think there may still be a medical problem that the doctors haven't found, or do you think this could just be all in my head?

(I'm always saying and thinking about how bad I am at running long distances, and needing to rest for awhile to catch my breath. . . kinda like what I'm doing right now. But then again, the problem came before the thought)

sometimes doctors don't always catch things. There could be something wrong with you that they aren't familiar with, you know like those medical mysteries, but I'm not trying to freak you out, sorry if I did. I'm not sure what could be wrong. If they say that your heart is taking too long to slow down, I think they need to further your tests. I don't know if it is in your head or not. They say "mind of body" so maybe your mind is just giving you thoughts, but I don't think so. I think you need to ask your doctor to further test you to make absoloodely sure that there is nothing wrong with you. Hope this helped! Good luck! xoxo
