TW Cable or Direct TV Satellite better quality reception?

I currently have TW Cable (San Diego) and have such problems with noise, especially if I'm recording at the same time. I'm thinking of switching to Satellite. If you've had both, which do you prefer? I'm asking about quality of reception only, not channel choices.
 
Both have occasional reception issues. The main problem I had with satellite reception occurred when it rained or in high winds. Digital cable seems to have problems for no apparent reason on occasion. With the good weather in San Diego, I might opt for satellite.
