i have a 1999 pontiac grand am and im about to install my kicker L7's with a kicker zx1500 watt amp with 1/0 gauge wire, my electrical system is stock. i was going to put a optima yellow top battery under the hood would it work fine then? i dont want my amp or car shutting off lol, thankssss!

Yellow tops suck. Especially as the main battery of your car. Optima as a whole went down hill badly a few years back. The most effective upgrade you could make is the alternator. It's also the most expensive. next best upgrade is called the big 3. After that, extra batteries. NO CAPACITORS!

if you are not running a super system a capacitor will store enough energy to stop your lights from dimming and they do work as a hole.been there done that and they do work, now if your running a 1 or 2 ohm load with duel subwoofer coils you will need a high output alternator, but even then do you think all that power that's being made by the alternator would help even more if it has a place to be stored so your new alternator will not work so hard and its there for when your amp call for it..some people will tell you two put a second battery in the back.its the same thing a place to store energy, and there's at least 8 companys i know that are still making them,if they didn't work do you think people would still buy them.good luck with your system.
