Untrue and reputation-ruining rumours in high school?

One was made up about me and a load of people disliked me for it, even though it was complete bullshit. I'm going to college in september, and im basically wondering if that rumour will follow me or people will even remember it in years to come.. there's only a couple people from my school going to my college.
