Using Sony Ericsson W595 as modem on Windows XP computer, IP Address can't resolve?

I read a tutorial online on how to connect my w595 to my computer as a modem to get my phones internet on my computer (I am on a phone plan which allows this with 'unlimited internet') and I needed to install the Sony Ericsson PC Suite, then connect my phone to the computer to install the drivers. This all worked fine and when i plug the phone into the computer the drivers install, but then my computer can't resolve the IP but my phone is trying to use the internet. I have no idea what the problem is but generally my computer has problems with resolving IPs anyway (but that might just be a coincidence). What is the problem?
