Vacation advice for first timers on a budget!?

My husband and I are DESPERATELY in need of a great vacation after the past two years we have had. weve been through having a baby, losing our apt and having to live with parents, college and getting laid off from a job. we have done some budgeting and came out with about $1500-$2000 left over from our income tax to take a mini vacation. we live in Fort Worth TX. we dont know the first thing about where to vacation around here and what would be the best area and best price range to plan for a fun, safe couples vacation. My husband has ear problems and cant ride an airplane.
we have a Dodge Neon that I dont trust to take etremely far distances but could make it a few hundred miles probably. we want to go sometime in the spring or fall. have a nice hotel or lodge to stay in and be able to have fun in the night life where ever we go and do some semi nice dinners and do some fun or romantic things during the day. Would $2000 be enough to do something like that? where should we go in TX or Oklahoma that would be great for a young married couple in thier 20's??
Seriouse answer please! THANKS!! :)
guess I should repeat this... SERIOUS ANSWERS PLEASE. thank you and God bless.

So let me get this straight, you have a baby, lost your apt, job, your car is on its last leg and yet you want to use $1500-$2000 that clearly you don't really have to spend for a vacation? Think you might need some money for car repairs soon or a new car? An apt, oh and the baby? You are incredibly financially irresponsible.
