Me and my dad have a family plan. His phone is eligible for an upgrade but mine is not. I want to upgrade my phone to the iPhone 4s and a verizon representative said that I was able to use his upgrade to get a new phone for myself and just put the phone on my line. However, when I tried to order the phone online, it said that I had to choose a data plan for the iPhone. I currently have a smartphone which means that I already have a data plan. My dad however, does not. If I buy the iPhone with a data plan (from my dad's upgrade), will I be able to cancel that data plan when I put it on my line?
