I am in severe pain due to injuries in the military. This has been going on almost 2 years. Please do not give advice on which doctors to see, other than something along the lines of chronic pain managment...I am twenty, so I constantly am told that I will get addicted, and doctors will rarely prescribe anything that helps. I And I am aware that I may get addicted if I abuse them, and that ppl my age are more prone to this, but WOWW! I am in enough pain to where I am about to go into shock on a daily basis; this was diagnosed as permanent too. And I have gone to the hospital because of shock already once... What can I do, who can I see (i live in connecticut). I know I'm young, but this pain is utterly unbareable, I was about to enter into pre-med, I was offered to play hockey for a high level school, and I had to stop everything. I am reduced to lying in my bed all day, in tears most the time. I am already prescribed, lyrica, voltaren gel, 2 percocet a day, flexiril, and lidocane patches for my back (my entire left side of my body is in sever pain, started with my left foot and underneather my shoulder blade)....But the stuff I am presribed does not help, the oxycodone only lasts for one hour, and I can only take it twice a day. Any advice on what a guy my age can do for treatment, when I've already explored every other possible treatment option other than things to take for pain. What works, who can I talk to, will any doctor help or listen without telling me they cant help because of my age. I'm a veteran, I deserve relief, I dont want to really consult the ,military/VA because of their past horrible treatment of me.
