I have been trying to figure this out for a while now and I hope I can get some assistance. I have a DSL connection and I am connecting my 64 bit Vista machine (Sony vaio laptop) directly to the modem via an ethernet cable. When setting up I had some troubles and popped in a cd from my ISP (they gave it to me a while back but it was for XP i suspect) and it ran and install. When I tried to connect the ethernet cable and get the internet working, the computer kept saying it was connected to a local network. Every few minutes it would say it has been connected to the internet, but it would not actually be (Even pinging google.com, yahoo.com, microsoft.com, would get no response). The internet was not down or having issues, but the connection seemed to be. I was wondering if this could be because of the CD which I put in and ran the install. If so how would I remove this and bring vista back to regular settings. I am not sure if it would be listed as a program (It may have just been settings), how would I change the network/internet settings to default. Thanks!!!!
