vlc movies converted into your ipod?

i hav my VLC movies and i want to put them onto my ipod but it wont let me, i tried to convert but i dont kno how

I wanna do the same thing but im not sure how either. I know there are programs out there that will convert it.

Heres one that I tried before and it worked a few times then stopped...but my computer was acting up at the time so that might've been the reason.
