I want a chihuahua for my 18th birthday, but I don't have the money right now. But I'm going to save money and get one in a few months. I had dogs before but I ended up giving them to the pound because they were biting me and other people. They were bigger dogs (labradors) and I got them for free from people I knew or neighbors. I want a chihuahua because it's small and doesn't need as much grooming and things as other dogs. My question is will they be as difficult as the other dogs I had? Will a chihuahua smell? My mom doesn't like smelly dogs and get nauseated by the littlest things. How do I potty train a chihuahua? How do I teach it not to bite? I saw The Dog whisperer use a "ripple technique" where he poked the dog with three fingers. Does that help? And Will they bark too loud and scratch doors? I live in apartment and don't need a dog that tears things. I can train him when I get money. So will I be able to get training that teaches him not to do these things. And also how much a month does it take to keep a chihuahua? And where is a good place to get the best? And what kind? I want one that is white because I want to name it Monroe (I'm a huge fan of Marilyn Monroe). I don't have many friends and I want something to keep me occupied and i'm mature for my age so I believe I can give a chihuahua a great home. And I had a beagle lab who I named Joe and he was like a baby to me. I spent every moment with him, and cried when the pound took him. He was biting and out of control is why I had them too. But if I had more money then I would've trained him. At least I don't want a baby LOL! Any other tips I need please help. Thanks a lot!
