Assuming you are going Vancouver to Anchorage chose the starboard side, or if the other way port side so you can see the mainland. As you go through the Inside Passage at the Northern end of Victoria island be on your balcony watching the mainland side as there is a resident pod of Orca whales protected by "Straight Watch" in high speed ribs.
Forward is better than aft as less engine noise/vibration.
