In the dream we're walking down the road (one near my childhood house) and my step-daughter (10yo) is poking me with sticks, I keep taking them and throwing them over a fence so she can't get to them but she won't stop. Eventually I start smacking her (which I've never done) and they are really hard smacks, all of my strength but she just laughs (in reality she would cry without needing much reason). We continue walking down the road and my wife and the two kids go ahead, I'm asking them to wait up for me but they ignore me and I can't catch up. A car on the side of the road starts up and I yell at the kids to get off the road, they just ignore me, I'm yelling and getting angry and they just don't seem to notice. The car starts driving but instead of going on the road they drive on the footpath or sidewalk and with all the trees they precariously drive around them so they pass the kids in that way but still don't go on the road.
That's about it. In reality they have pretty relaxed parents who are too busy to worry about them, I sometimes feel like the only one providing any sort of discipline.
