i have a nyssma solo competition on my flute tomorrow and i get nervous easily. i take deep breaths and pray but do you have any suggestions?
What are good techniques for calming yourself down?

yea meditate. Blank ur mind out of flute. breathe out in every ten seconds. make sure u get alot of air and that u are comfertble where u are sitting. Also pretend u are not playing ur flute in front of every onejust pretend ur doing it in ur room. good luck cupcake
praying is a good idea, good for you! 
ah...i write whenever i have excess emotion i need to get rid of...when i took my drivers test i took it like three times and i failed three times cause i was stressing, but once i just stopped caring so much my stress went down and i was able to relax and i passed. same diff, just chill out. tell yourself it doesnt matter, and just focus on playing not the people. good luck, i'm sure you'll do great!
