I am number four (not female lead but its still good)
Breath my name(really good just finished today!)
and a few classics ( no classics like the secret garden.... more modern romance young adult girl stuff. guy <3s girl they are in love and go on a mission together...blah blah blah that kind of stuff or even powers like supernatural...)
good books. and lots of other books
 
scott westerfield the midnighters trilogy
uglies pretties specials and extras

the main character is a boy but the girl steals the show along with another strong young girl who makes a short appearance but scott westerfield's Leviathan, Behemoth and Goliath.
 
Time for Patriots is a time travel adventure novel with a couple of major female characters. There is no one lead. It also has one rather obnoxious woman who (SPOILER ALERT!) has a one night stand with Ben Franklin (I said it was time travel).
The author is Thomas Hamilton, and it's available hardcover, softcover, and also on Kindle
