I need a new bike. I am a pretty aggressive rider so I prefer mountain bikes, but I want the simplicity and the challenge of a fixed gear bike.
I've experimented with changing an old mountain bike into a single speed, but it got stolen before I learned about flip flop hubs.
Ideally, I'd like a flip-flop hub so that I can switch to freewheel if I'm tired or something. Ideally I'd also like to build the bike myself, but good parts are expensive, and I figure I might be able to find a cheaper used bike to keep me busy for a while.
Anyone know any good brands for what I'm looking for; fixed gear mountain bike preferably with a flip-flop hub?
Also just to note, by aggressive rider.. I really mean aggressive commuter. I like to jump curbs and ride in the grass and try tricks you should only be doing on a BMX or trials bike on the way to work or wherever..
