What are some great places to go on a mission trip?

My Commission of 9 members from Cameron House (situated in San Francisco) would like to go somewhere and help out. We have narrowed it down to helping animals or building houses somewhere. We went to New Orleans last year. We are thinking of staying in the US. Any and all information is great, esp. if you previously went on one and want to share.

I was about to go off if you were mentioning leaving the US. You are smart for wanting to stay in the US. We have people here that need help too. I can't stand these celebrities that think they are doing so good by going to other countries. They are ignorant because we have children here that need help too. I will get off my soap box now. All I have to say is stay in the US.
