reality and world history?
Please state the verse or passage...

The bible was written well after Jesus died and christinaity became an established religion. Of course people are going to say that God predicted them and they happened, after they already happened.

Thats like me saying I predicted September 11th but didn't tell anyone I did until now. Will anyone believe me? No.

And about the comment about the dead sea scrolls....The Dead Sea scrolls are copies of texts from the HEBREW bible. The Jews do not believe that Jesus was the son of God nor was he a prophet or messiah. Why would they have predictions about him if they STILL don't believe this?

Any prophecy in the bible can be metaphorically interpreted using recent events to make the bible sound true, meanwhile it's all coincidence. I can predict an earth quake will take place somewhere within the next month...if it happens, does this mean I'm divine and can fulfill prophecies??? No. It would be mere coincidence (not to mention the fact that it's not that difficult to predict an earthquake happening somewhere in the world seeing as there are so many happening daily on this planet).

Regarding hivesguy's response:

"God clearly says in the bible (in the OT, I forget which scripture), that hey will knock down Egypts empire, and they will NEVER again be a great empire. Today they are NOTHING in the world."

Um, name me ONE empire that didn't eventually fall over time.

"God says that Tyre will become desolate, and place for men to cast their nets. That is what happened."

That must be a shock to the thousands of Lebanese living there today...

"God fortold the destruction of the Jewish nation, and it happened."

Again, 'predicting' the eventual downfall of any given nation isn't that impressive...how many HAVE lasted for the last 2000 years without some sort of downfall again?

"God fortold the regathering of the Jewish nation (something that has NEVER happened in the history of the world, and they once again became a nation."

OK, that's one...tho many of those who worked for the founding of Israel did so BECAUSE it was 'fortold'.

"God fortold the rebuilding of the temple (people want to do this as we speak)."

Again, you might want to look up the definition of 'self-fulfilling prophecy"

"God fortold the exodus of the israelites of Egypt", etc.

You might look up the definition of 'fortold' while you're at it...these were all events THAT SUPPOSEDLY ALREADY OCCURED...

1 for 9 isn't that impressive of a batting average, pal...

Fireball. You genius. of course the bible prophesied famines and earthquakes. Brilliant!!!!! Just how many famines and earthquakes would there have been in the 2000 years since Christ? About what - 10 major earthquakes a year? Continuous famine in one impooverished nation or another. Yep. The Bible really nailed those!!!

Well.... there was..... ummmmmmm....

Jesus IS still coming - HE IS JERK!

If you really want to know, there are some good websites for answering this question. Please note too, that we actually have evidence of the written record of the predictions about Jesus contained in the Dead Sea Scrolls which date to 100 B.C. so there can be no doubt that these predictions were written before they happened.

God told Abraham that he would be the father of many nations.
Don't all the middle eastern nations claim Abraham as their father? today?

I could go on & on but i'd just be writing out the bible here, so why don't you read it and see the many thousands of prophecies that have come to pass. Then you will see that as God speaks... so it is.

There have been none. There are however a lot of people who will take passages and twist their meaning and then claim that a prophecy has been fulfilled. It is best just to ignore the cooks and get on with reality.

Amazing Facts with Doug Batchelor has online Bible studies. You would really enjoy them. Isaiah had many prophecies about Jesus coming as a baby and His ministry on earth. They were fulfilled. Daniel has some interesting prophecies including time prophecy that has proved to be very accurate. God doesn't do anything without telling us about it first Amos 3:7. Daniel has a time prophecy in Daniel 2 that God revealed to a king. Babylon was a world power at the time and the head of gold. After them would come Media Persia the silver chest. Then Greece the brass loins. The legs were of iron, Rome. In fact Rome is the only church that has a seat with the United Nations as it is a civil power too. The feet and ten toes were a mixture of iron and Potters clay. The kingdoms were metals or civil powers. The Potters clay is religious power. Iron and clay do not mix. the Holy wars in Europe cost many lives and the civil power and religious power didn't stick together. Now days we hear of how we need to do away with the separation of Church and State. The results will be every bit as devastating with the same results. There will be no more world power as Christ is coming and there will be no secret rapture. Every eye will see Him. 1Thessalonians 4:13-17 describes His coming. Romans 6 mentions new life in Jesus and we can all experience that fulfillment on a daily basis.
