What are some ways boxers or even mma fighter strengthen their hands and wrists?

a lot of them carry a small rubber ball and continually squeeze it. some use a bucket of rice and keep grabbing ans squeezing the sand,
 
Punch the heavybag without gloves. Start light, work your way up to harder punches

DO NOT...AND I REPEAT DO NOT GO OVER BOARD WITH THIS........AND MAKE SPECIALLY SURE NOT TO THROW COMBOS THAT MAY MAKE UR PUNCHES LAND ACKWARDLY.

YOU COULD HURT YOUR HAND...IT WILL HURT LIKE HELL TRUST ME...

I was bare hand punching the heavybag and it was ok. Jab. Ok. Cross, Ok. Hook Ok. Been doing this a while so my hands are conditioned. Anyway on that particular day, i get fired up beat my cheat and start throwing combos..bam bam bam...ok so far, then in a midst of a flurry a hook lands ackwardly and gotdamn it hurt...had to wait for a couple weeks before it fully healed
