films before ? I want to know about some of the "bad" science issues that have been presented in many of the fantasy/sci-fi films such as Superman VI and several Star Wars films. For instance, is the scene from Superman VI in which the lady was able to breath while being carried into outer space is the only issue of "bad" science in the film?

The most common is sounds in space - explosions, weapons firing, etc.

Almost all action-oriented sci-fi is guilty of this.

Obviously, no atmosphere means no sound in space.

In Star Wars, Han Solo brags of doing the Kessel run in X parsecs. A parsec is a unit of distance, not time.

Some person or creature becoming super BIG or small. - impossible. Such a giant would collapse due to gravity and such a tiny creature couldn't even breathe as the air molecules would be too large for its lungs.

I also love wings on spacecraft. Crafts not designed to fly in an atmosphere have no need for wings.

The idea that any human can visit any planet and breathe the atmosphere and eat the food.

Aliens that coincidentally speak an Earth language.

Radiation instantly giving someone super powers.

Same goes for genetic mutation.

In the 50's and 60's there were many sci-fi films depicting animals/insects becoming HUGE after being exposed to atomic bomb blasts or testing.
