What are the chances of a car like a SAAB 9-3 running with low or no oil?

This is related to another question. Basically, I'm thinking a bodyshop mistakenly drained (and didn't replace) the oil on my car while doing work on it. This caused the engine to basically blow up within a few miles of driving.

Now the only variable is that my wife (don't ask why) can't "remember" where/when she very last changed the oil. However, we've been driving (and even doing minor repairs) on the car for at least 5 thousand miles since the last documented oil change. So, unless this car could drive a long time with little or no oil and then just happen to blow up after being at a body shop for a week - the bodyshop must have stole my oil! Thanks for any informed opinions on this.
Forgot to add. NEVER have seen the engine oil light come on in this car until just after it left this bodyshop.
I didn't mean literally blow up. The oil light came on within minutes after she left the bodyshop. I (mistakenly) told her to keep driving it home because I had no clue the engine was actually low/empty of oil. She said the turbo was shooting off , etc. before she finally pulled over. So basically valves/rods something got damaged real quick.
