What are the most important features to look for when comparing blue ray players?

In looking at all the black friday ads it really dawned on me that I didn't know much about what features were worth paying for vs pure hype. Couple of key things I saw included Internet connectivity, the whole streaming netflix experience, picture quality, sound out put, etc. So I'm a total newbie here would love to hear suggestions on how to evaluate the various players.
