Here's my list:

Scarface
Princess Mononoke
Children of Men
American Gangster
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
There Will Be Blood
 
Well since IMDB says The Shawshank Redemption is the #1 movie ever, then The Shawshank Redemption is the most overrated movie ever.

Don't get me wrong it's a fantastic movie, I'm just going by the definition of 'overrated'.

For you 14 year olds.. You overrated Twilight by a ton..
 
Titanic (ok but average in my eyes)
The Lord of the Ring trilogy (ZZZZZZZ)
Gran Torino (ZZZZZZZZ)
Crash (overly dramatic and simplifies racism as if the audience is dumb)
Premonition (ok but people were raving as if Sandra Bullock and the script should win an Oscar... not so much)

Edit: I agree with DJ Styles, The Shawshank Redemption was very overrated. I watched it and instantly forgot about it. The Green Mile (both Stephen King film translations) is also overrated. I think people now believe Tom Hanks starring = Oscar worthy material.
