when my brother gets chinese takeout, they usually throw in those crispy wonton strips (here's a picture in case you don't know what they are: http://www.foodsubs.com/Photos/friedchowmeinnoodles.jpg ). how unhealthy are they for you? i usually avoid them, but they taste so good! what are they made of? are they deep fried? should i be trying to avoid them even more?

Hey have fun and indulge! You only live once!

They are usually deep fried but I have seen them baked in the oven also. Most chain places (like Panda Express, Asian Palace, etc) bake them in the oven but more authentic places probably deep fry them. This link shows the calories for the won ton strips. It included eggroll because it is the same batter used. Its not that bad. Only 85 calories but at the same time thats only per serving! When you get the bags at the restaurants with the soup there are lots of servings in one. Screw it, just pass on the beef recipes or the noodles and load up on the Egg Drop Soup with the crispy noodles you love so much. Thats actually a very healthy option!
