Hi there,

I'm a professional user of windows, I recently installed win 7 Ultimate on my computer. It's all fine, I could get everything to work, but not my DVD writer. the problem is that I can burn CDs but not DVDs with it. I have Sony DRU-190A DVD writer Drive which uses an IDE connection. I tried my Friend's DVD writer (Asus) which uses a Sata Connection, and it completely worked and I could burn a DVD. but When I use my own Device it give's me the "Power Calibration Error" In Nero, while I never received such an Error With my XP. I also use the latest Nero "Reloaded to work with win 7". and It's just the same. I also tried to use other burning programs, None worked. I updated my Device's firmware. and I still have the problem.

Any help is completely Appreciated
Thanks.
and I'm completely sure that my DVD writer Drive is OK, because I bought it only two months ago, and this problem happened only after installing win 7
The writable DVDs I use are "IT Max -R 16x DVDs" I haven't tried other brands yet.

Are you using a different brand disc by any chance? A quick search has revealed that one person with the same problem was able to burn after changing the media type from DVD-R to DVD+RW which indicates that either one type is not supported or the brand he was using before was crap. Try another brand of disc.

Also found the following background info on this problem with a quick google query:
