What do you think of the trend toward breeding "mini" animals?

I don't like mini lop ears as they are not as friendly as dwarf lop eared rabbits. People have been breeding things smaller to cope with people having smaller backyards to keep there animals mainly due to population growth. I can't say I like mini horses either why bother if you can't ride them. As for mini cows you wouldn't think they would bother with that either as you would get less milk and meat off of one which is what there for. Mini pigs still would stink too and not much meat on one of those I don't really know why people keep them as pets why not get a dog at least they don't stink and poo everywhere. So NO i don't like minis.

I don't have a problem with it in principle any more than I do with people breeding different sized dogs. My concern would be that people would buy them as toys or status symbols and then mistreat and/or dump them when they got tired of them. As long as people treat them well I think they'd make swell pets. Put me down for a mini-bear.

I would love this! Elephants are so cool but of course they are too big to keep one at home. This would be the perfect solution. I have wanted one since I saw something on discovery channel about there being miniature elephants long ago. If they existed once they could exist again. I have my fingers crossed.

On another note, if people can do something, they will. We made miniature dogs and it didn't seem to hurt anything.
