What does the highlighted red and blue mean on an ultrasound or x-ray? please read?

Can somebody tell me when reading an x-ray or ultrasound pictures of like kidney stones or gallstones.. what does the highlighted stuff in red and blue mean? Does the red show the stones or the blue or both? thanks for any help.
