Please read the whole thing before answering, THANK YOU!!

I don't know what form i am taking, but I know i'm taking Karate.
My dojo is also takes all the forms from Tae Kwon Do so is it like a mix between Karate and Tae Kwon Do? I'm confused but to clarify, here's what we do:

--We learn single kicks such as;
--Crescent Kick (inside and out), Axe kick, Back Kick, Hook Kick, Snap Kick (with the instep of the foot and ball of the foot), Roundhouse Kick, and Side Kick.

--We do spinning kicks like spin hook (360) spin round (360) Inside and Outside Crescent Kick (360) and Spin Side Kick (180; half spin)

--We do jump kicks (all kicks listed above except Axe kick)

--We Spar

--When we test for our next belt level, we have to break blocks of wood using a certain breaking kick for our belt level (any kick listed above)

-- Our belts in our dojo is No Belt (beginner), White Belt, Yellow Belt, Green Belt, Blue Belt, Purple Belt, Red Belt, Brown Belt, Sr. Brown Belt, and Black Belt. I am currently a Blue Belt.

--And lastly we use weapons in my belt level called Sais (in my dojo it's used for blue belts and beyond. we get more weapons when we are a brown belt)

So Am i in Shotokan Karate or Kempo? If I am in another type, can you please tell me! Thank you I just wanted to know =)

Also the form names and styles are in Korean so is it Tae Kwon Do somehow?
Thanks!!

I'm not trying to be rude or obnoxious, I'm asking a question out of my curiosity. Please don't be rude back.

Or Kong Soo DO (Korean Karate) the step between Karate and TKD

could be anything but most likely a fusion stye

breaking is not on the original karate or tkd syllabus as far as i know so it is probably a modern interpretation

thats not to say there is anything wrong with it, its just been developed from traditional styles

the best clue would be the names of your kata/forms and a demo of them, does your school have a website?

i would say that its exactly like you said. its a mix between karate and tae kwon do. its not uncommon for teachers to mix two styles. i know of one who has mixed tkd, karate, jujitsu and has called it Goshi Shun. Its a great style and the teachers are amazing.

but if i had to choose another style to call it, i'd say tang soo doo, or soo bak doo.
tang soo doo is korean based but is very similar to karate. its more of a equal hands/feet type style.
the other style i mentioned is great as well. you should look it up

Sounds like a Korean Martial art...it could be that your instructor kinda made his own hybrid martial art..nothing wrong with it.

I would ask him, it couldn't hurt. If you don't get a response then I would suggest going elsewhere.
