The microwave won't explode, but most metal items will ruin it if left running for too long. Microwaves make anything metal arc and this causes sparks. Depending on what else is in the microwave, it could cause a fire as well. Just leave the spoon on the counter.

they are right.the spoon will get red hot and the machine will catch on fire.toss a steel woll pad in front of a radar with a long stick and it instantly will be gone in a puff of smoke.your oven uses the same type of energy

i guess according to this video its all right but realize i don't know what type of spoon they were using, so i would still not do it

when i was little my parents told me it would explode but i still dont believe it and i dont wanna risk it.

BE VERY CAREFUL! no spoon should ever go in the micro man! don't do it man! it's just not worth it. peace.

It will start to spark and go crazy basically, you cant put metal into microwaves, I accidentally left one of those bread ties on a bag in there once, and it caught fire and sparked. Lol

It does explode, please dont do it. I was on a student budget and my apartment and it happened and I am getting the new microwave today.

Because microwaves give off waves to heat the food. And anything metal will reflect it. It'll just bounce off the metal (including foil) Basically you'll see sparks and hear loud noises and can start a fire.

Microwaves work by moving the water molecules really fast in w/e you're heating (which is why beans (have no water) don't cook in the microwave well.) All the molecules moving really fast start to cause friction and heat thus cooking the food.
