So I bought a game on ebay, and then realised that its region was for America, and I live in Australia. What will happen if I attempt to play this on my playstation if I havent altered it to accept any region.

And Is there any safe way to alter a PS2 so that it will play any region?

Well your tv will most likely handle an ntsc signal, but your ps2 will just comes up with an error. There is basically 2 ways to play an ntsc game on a pal console. 1, get the ps2 chipped, which i cant help you there, or 2, use swap magic.

On the rare occasions, your ps2 will run it without doing anything. Another solution that works with some games(wont work with most), is to put one of your other ps2 games in and the very moment it gets to the ps2/sony logo, take the disk out and very quickly put the ntsc game in. It must be done without hitting the eject button. You can do that by either using a slide tool, or taking the ps2 apart so you can actually see the disk and easily take it out without hitting the eject.

Well, it just wont work. I guess you'll just have to sell it back on eBay
