missionaries could save them? I mean in the space of time after he was crucified, but before missionaries made it to the new world . It was about 1500 years until they made it to America.

I've always wondered. It seems a bit unfair to pack them off to hell.
 
The Bible makes it clear that of necessity God has to be very selective when it comes to choosing the inhabitants of heaven which the Book of Revelation states is only 1,500 miles wide and 1,500 miles long.Some of the inhabitants are contacted by God through revelation (frequently dreams) before any human witnessing is made.
