What importance do you place on the symbol of your religion?

Star of David. Crucifix, Crescent, Skull and Crossbones, or whatever... how important is it to you that others show it respect (like a nation's flag perhaps), or what powers do you think it has (like keeping vampires away?)

Other than what it means to you, do you like it's aesthetic appeal, or would you rather it were something different? I hear the symbol is available that was formerly used by Prince (He is the former artist that was formerly known as "The Artist Formerly Known as Prince")

I do not expect the entire world to respect my faiths symbols but I do respect them myself as well as I try not to disrespect others symbols of their faiths.

The "symbol" of my religion (Christianity) is the cross. I put no importance in it though. The cross itself deserves no respect. The person who died on it does.

star of david i could show respect
cross and bones NEver
in mormon religion, the book of mormon and temple garments are symbols so is the white shirt and tie.
garments are not shown publicly on pupose
white shirts and ties are known world wide

I don't approve of people defacing religious icons in general, even if they're not mine, so fairly highly in that sense.

I actually always thought the use of a cross was a bit morbid, and there is too much fixation with the crucification, there's a lot more to Jesus and his teachings than his death.

Would a Christian rip pages off the Bible to stop a bleeding wound?
Symbolism is a strange phenomenon my friend, indeed it is.
